Secrets to Buying Curvy Lingerie
November 21st, 2009Curvy lingerie is for women with full curves, full hips and breasts and the secrets to buying curvy lingerie is essential. Buying curvy lingerie has secrets that both men and women want to know and apply when shopping.
Curvy lingerie often goes by the terms plus size lingerie, queen size lingerie as well as lingerie for full figured women. To many women including myself these other terms can be demeaning and divisive and don’t lend themselves to women having pride in their lingerie. Sexy lingerie for thin women is well, lingerie while lingerie for women 12, 14, 16 and up is well, plus size. Why not call it super size or even huge lingerie, why not freaking huge lingerie for fat women?
Curvy lingerie is neutral in fact it is cute and does not suggest anything about the weight, height or ethnic origin of wearer. Why don’t we call lingerie black lingerie for black women, Hispanic lingerie for Latinas and, well you get the idea.

Curvy lingerie is for women who have curves whether they be as a result of breast implants, big breasts, curvy hips or women of all sizes who have, you got it, curves. Curvy, voluptuous, soft or firm womanly curves.
So what are the secrets?
1. Buy lingerie to fit and this is especially true for curvy women. All too often curvy women want to “hide” their curves and this is a mistake. Show them off and don’t add unnecessary fabric which makes you appear to be heavier, bigger and less attractive. Curves are meant to be celebrated not draped in a fashion that suggests you are ashamed of those beautiful breasts, hips and thighs.
2. Try the garments on if at all possible as sizing in the curvy line of lingerie is anything but stable. Sizing has always been a factor in men’s or women’s clothing but especially women’s clothing and lingerie. Remember sexy plus size lingerie is available in sizes extra large, 1X, 2X, 3X, 4X, 5X, 6X as well as sizes 12, 14, 16, 18 and beyond. Finally there is the one size fits most – queen or plus size.
3. Does one size fit all? No, read carefully as many women and men assume that one size fits most really means one size fits all, and it doesn’t. One size fits most is meant to fit all sizes from 12 to 16 and if you wonder how do they do that, they don’t? At least not very effectively. The one size sizing is meant to keep a lid on costs as instead of offering 4-6 different sizes, manufacturers offer the one size label. How can one size fit 4 to 6 sizes? Again it really can’t but it “may” fit you depending on your body type. In other words curvy women may have a big butt, tummy or breasts and depending on how you want this garment to fit it may or may not fit but obviously these garments are inexpensive, cheap often and may hang on you or be stretched to bursting.
4. Ask your retailer what other plus size they have available? Don’t settle for just what they have on the floor. It used to be that retailers put out their 2-3-4 sizes of each style which were and are handpicked by the owner or buyers. There are usually 50 to 90% of the rest of the line that are unpurchased. While the reasons vary wildly just ask the owner what else is available. While it may cost more to get another style or even color you may find that it is well worth the extra expense.
